This fall, CPP Investments hosted nine in-person public meetings across the country as part of our commitment to accountability and transparency with our 21 million contributors and beneficiaries. We also hosted a national, virtual meeting, attended by roughly 800 Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast. For those who joined us, thank you for taking the time to learn more about our organization.
The meetings represent an important opportunity for contributors and beneficiaries to ask questions of our senior leaders and raise important issues. All ten meetings included an update on the Fund’s performance, governance, and an overview of our approach to climate change and sustainable investing. Meetings were attended by representatives of the local business community, retiree associations and student investment groups, as well as a number of stakeholders who shared their thoughts on topics ranging from climate change and human rights, to our approach to risk management and the sustainability of the Canada Pension Plan.
Please find below a video of our National Virtual Meeting, held on November 1st, where Dr. Heather Munroe-Blum, Chairperson of the Board of Directors, and John Graham, our President & Chief Executive Officer spoke about our investment approaches and priorities and took answer questions from Canadians.
Topics will include:
- How the Fund is designed to provide retirement benefits for over 20 million contributors and beneficiaries over the long term;
- How we consider environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in our investment activities;
- The types of investments in the Fund and why we invest in global markets;
- How the CPP enhancement was designed to increase retirement incomes and the impact it will have for younger Canadians in particular; and
- Our strategic response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meeting Accessibility
We want our meetings open to be open to all Canadians, whether you wish to join virtually or in person.
Our virtual meeting will be available with French audio, as well as closed captioning in both English and French. The virtual meeting will be recorded and posted to our YouTube page within two weeks of broadcast.
