  • An avid explorer and lover of all things warm and sandy, Shandley has visited multiple islands during her travels. From the silky soft shores of Bali to the volcanic rock-strewn strands in the Seychelles to the translucent waters of Mauritius, Shandley has yet to meet a beach she doesn't like.
  • Having lived in Toronto, New York, London, and currently Westport, Connecticut, she has in-depth, first-hand knowledge of beaches, cities, and top attractions in the surrounding areas, not to mention great places to eat!
  • Shandley and her family (which includes a husband and two children) have traveled to over 40 countries, including Australia, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Denmark, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and Greece.

Experience

A member of the Society of American Travel Writers, Shandley has written for Explore and Islands since joining Static Media in 2023. Born in Toronto, she has worked as a freelance writer and editor for over two decades. She's written health, parenting, and travel articles for consumer magazines like Chatelaine, Today's Parent, Parents Canada, Time Out New York Kids, and Today's Child. You'll find her online articles on University Health News, InBetween Magazine, Travel Mindset, The Travel, and PlanetWare. Shandley is also the author of three books: "Hey Baby! What's Your Name? A Canadian Guide to Naming Your Baby," and children's books, "Under Your Nose" and "On the Reef."

Education

Shandley holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in English and sociology from Queen's University in Canada. After graduating, she began a career at Chatelaine Magazine and took magazine writing classes at Ryerson University. She also took a course on writing for social media through UC Berkeley.
